The Covers Project

Overview

Back in the days of going to the record stores and record conventions, I would search for the usual Elton John LP’s, CD’s and singles in hoping to find that elusive item you did not have.  Just on a whim at one of these conventions I thought I would search singles starting with the “B”’s.  After about a half hour and getting tired I stumbled across a single 7 inch “Border Song”  I thought might as will pull it out to review it, yellow and black label.  Looked at the composers and it read John/Taupin.  I thought what???  I kind of let out a Yeah! Cool.  The collector next to me though I found a holy grail or something.

Turns out it was done by a group called "Soulosophy".  Strange name but though for a $1 I would take it home.  I sure am glad I did, the song was great.  And there my folks is how I started collecting cover versions of Elton John Bernie Taupin songs.. Little did I know what I was getting into.  I started a long process of starting to collect these items.  Right now in the discography, There are over 1,546 different artists performing over 561 different John/Taupin Songs found in the discography.

I will be adding these progressively as the numbers are so large.
